Week 6 is normally the reveal week of One Room Challenges, but since we got an extra week you’ll want to come back next week for the reveal and lots of photos of the completed nursery! This week I’m sharing details on the accessories I picked up, mostly from Target. They have two really cute children’s collections by the way. Cloud Island* is the nursery line while Pillowfort* is the children’s home decor line.
Even with children decor can get really trendy. Think stuffed animal heads. Cute, but I’m still not into taxidermy. If you know my style I’m not into super trendy items but rather decor that is more classic and versatile. That’s how I approached my nursery decor as well.
Aside from the overhead pendant light I wanted some softer, lower-level lighting that lamps can provide. I loved this one* . It’s both a lamp and a nightlight where just the base lights up! And how cute are the star cut outs?
I’m going with the recommendation to have a “bare crib” so nothing but a crib sheet basically. I picked one that had a cute pink stripe* that I think mixes well with the other major pattern in the room which is the floral curtain*. I talked about finding the curtain in Week 3’s post.
Also, I went with a really simple, flat, white crib skirt* . I didn’t want anything too frilly or fussy.
Loved this super simple, modern looking cloud mobile*.
Bins and baskets are great for small storage like toys, throws, and laundry. For the nursery I wanted softer options like woven cotton as opposed to baskets woven with grasses which are a rougher, stiffer texture. Loved this set of cotton woven baskets with handles* . And this small one* that is perfect for a shelf or dresser top for diaper changing items.
Finally, I’ve gotten a lot of questions about where this cute bear is from!
It’s actually one that I bought over 10 years ago for myself when I was walking past the Pottery Barn Kids store. I saw it in the window and thought it was too cute. So it also has a bit of sentimental value as it’s been with me a while. It’s actually a Gund bear, and I love their stuffed animals. Mine is not around anymore but here are a few super cute options.
Stay tuned next week for the big reveal!
