(Image Source: Homepolish)The biggest benefit of online interior design is more clarity in pricing and accessibility to a wider audience in an industry historically non-transparent and approachable only by those who want a $10,000 rug. There are certainly trade offs but we’ll save pros and cons for a different post. As with anything that becomes popular the marketplace becomes crowded with many companies that offer similar services. I’ve rounded up some of the most popular online interior design companies in a side-by-side comparison so you can easily see what each service offers and how they are different. Not all online design services are created equal. I bucket them into 3 main categories. The companies in my list fall into the first two buckets.
- Services with a network of interior designers across the country that start the process online by matching you with a designer. Then it’s completely personalized from there on out and can be as much in person as online.
- Services with a network of interior designers across the country that work with you completely online.
- Individual interior designers and firms offering online or e-design services. Some offer online services in additional to their full service design, some only offer online design, and some offer a hybrid.
(Image source: Homepolish)Disclaimer: I design for Homepolish in addition to my own services which fall into the third bucket, so I am more familiar with them than the other companies listed. This is not meant to be a review but an objective look at various services. My research is based on what is available on the Internet and on the companies’ websites. If I’ve missed information please leave me a comment.
