The Holiday season is my favorite time of year. I say season because I like to get my decorations up as early as possible (right before Thanksgiving) to maximize the time I have with sparkly lights and pretty things to look at around the house. I was out of town over Thanksgiving so it’s happening a bit later but it’s done and I’m excited to share with you! My home has a living and dining room that are separated from the kitchen, dining nook, and family room. Since I love all kinds of design styles I tend to decorate these two areas differently. Part 1 of my holiday home tour will be on the living and dining room and Part 2 will be the family room and nook. Sources are at the end of the post. My living and dining room everyday decor is mainly a light and bright room accented with navy, gold, and green. I kept to this color palette for my Holiday Decor. It’s a non-traditional Christmas color palette but it looks elegant, sophisticated, and warm. I tend to look for ornaments that are larger in size for this 9′ tree and in unique and pretty designs. I like sticking to silver, gold, and white and then adding color through this blue ribbon. I carried the holiday decor to the coffee table as well, styling it with ornaments in a tray and a nutcracker ornament that was a souvenir from last Christmas when we saw the Nutcracker ballet. I added a gold birch tree pillow to the sofa. Holiday decor doesn’t have to be over the top if you don’t want it to be. I just change out my everyday pillows for these green velvet ones and added the gold berry wreaths to the wall and stems to a vase. Adding anything glittery to a vase or tray adds immediate holiday sparkle! Then I draped a garland over the back of the sofa. To the dining table I added mercury glass votives and topped them with boxwood balls over a gold runner, keeping it simple but festive. Wishing you a warm and happy holiday season!
